Rather than just releasing new colour variants to tease us with after we&apos;ve bought the black and white versions of their gear, they&apos;ve gone one step further and actually closed a chapter in the history books by bringing unreleased N64 colours to the world. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/analogue-3d-limited-edition-colours.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Analogue Announces New 3D Editions Based On Original N64 Prototypes" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/analogue-3d-limited-edition-colours.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/analogue-3d-limited-edition-colours.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/analogue-3d-limited-edition-colours.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: Analogue</span></figcaption></figure><p>For the past year, Analogue have been meticulously colour-matching five, never-before-released colour variants of the N64 that were made in the prototyping stages of the console&apos;s development. We know that the colours existed because of our good friend over at Console Variations, Donny, who invited us over to film the biggest Nintendo collection in Europe, but these colours never saw mass production, until now. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-7.png" class="kg-image" alt="Analogue Announces New 3D Editions Based On Original N64 Prototypes" loading="lazy" width="1600" height="1565" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/image-7.png 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/image-7.png 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-7.png 1600w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">An image of the prototype N64 consoles. Personally, Ocean is my favourite, and twined with the matching 8BitDo controller, it looks like the ultimate crystal shell N64 that I wanted back when I was a kid.</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/2_7c7f308e-3646-438b-9bbb-0996d09f2082.jpg.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Analogue Announces New 3D Editions Based On Original N64 Prototypes" loading="lazy" width="800" height="800" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/2_7c7f308e-3646-438b-9bbb-0996d09f2082.jpg.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/2_7c7f308e-3646-438b-9bbb-0996d09f2082.jpg.webp 800w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: Analogue</span></figcaption></figure><p>These new limited edition colours will sell incredibly quickly. They&apos;re priced at $299.99, which is just $30 more than the original Analogue Pocket RRP. The matching 8BitDo controllers are priced at $5 more. Again, I would have loved all of these colours to have been available at launch, but that&apos;s a battle I&apos;m never going to win.</p><p>These limited edition 3Ds go on sale on February 9th 2026 at 8am PST. That&apos;s 4pm if you&apos;re reading in the UK or 2am on February 10th if you&apos;re reading from Australia! Head to the Analogue website for more details!</p><figure class="kg-card kg-gallery-card kg-width-wide kg-card-hascaption"><div class="kg-gallery-container"><div class="kg-gallery-row"><div They&apos;ve made many handhelds in the past that I absolutely love, and was genuinly excited for thanks to their dedication and often times of taking risks and innovating when others don&apos;t.</p><p>But this isn&apos;t one of them, likely because of its somewhat boring design, the lack of innovation from Retroid themselves and also because of how the market just all feels the same right now.</p><p>Mixed coloured shells and buttons can only take a bland design so far. You may be wondering, &quot; But Brandon, what do you mean by innovation?&quot;</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-vs-g2.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Retroid Pocket 6 Review: A Perfect, Yet Slightly Dull Android Handheld" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/pocket-6-vs-g2.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/pocket-6-vs-g2.webp 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/pocket-6-vs-g2.webp 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-vs-g2.webp 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Pocket 6 VS Pocket G2</span></figcaption></figure><p>I mean, being different, doing things others don&apos;t, stop following the crowds, etc. You could slap any other handheld manufacturer&apos;s logo on this, and you&apos;d believe it was made by them.</p><p>This is a $250 device; it doesn&apos;t have fingerprint recognition, which is common in handhelds of this price range, nor does it have unique ways of using LED lights elsewhere. I want Retroid to take risks, to do something different. Hopefully there next handhelds will show that they&apos;re building for the people, not for mass production.</p><p>If you do like the design, however, then you&apos;re in for a treat!</p><h2 id="the-look-feel">The Look &amp; Feel</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-design.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Retroid Pocket 6 Review: A Perfect, Yet Slightly Dull Android Handheld" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/pocket-6-design.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/pocket-6-design.webp 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/pocket-6-design.webp 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-design.webp 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Retroid offers two versions of the Pocket 6 in terms of layouts, offering customers the choice to have the DPAD above or below the analogue stick, which is a nice touch, and was one of the requests from the community amongst the uproar.</p><p>The sticks are hall-joysticks, have removable grips and LED lights behind them that can be set to almost any colour.</p><p>The DPAD is small, lightweight, sensitive yet flexible, allowing it to serve a multitude of uses in both slow and fast-paced scenarios. I have read that it doesn&apos;t really fit their dual-screen attachment either, but I don&apos;t have one to test, so keep that in mind if you do plan on pairing this with their second screen attachment.</p><p>The button placements, lovely curved grips on the back, front-facing speakers and quick access to the menu buttons make this a very comfortable, well-oiled handheld console that doesn&apos;t disappoint in any way when playing games.</p><h2 id="the-display">The Display</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-display.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Retroid Pocket 6 Review: A Perfect, Yet Slightly Dull Android Handheld" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/pocket-6-display.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/pocket-6-display.webp 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/pocket-6-display.webp 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-display.webp 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Luckily, Retroid have paired the good ergonomics, high-quality buttons and comfortable design with an AMOLED 5.5&quot; display that also doesn&apos;t disappoint.</p><p>A 5.5&quot; AMOLED display makes the device feel incredibly modern. The brightness, the sharpness and the fast refresh rate add to the experience of exploring an array of games, both retro and modern on this device.</p><p>It&apos;s a 16:9 ratio which doesn&apos;t fit many retro games naturally otherthan PSP really, but it does open up the opportunity to explore Android games and Cloud Streaming.</p><p></p><p>And that&apos;s what this is. <strong>This is not a retro handheld</strong>. This is a high-end Android games console. And I want to make that clear because a lot of people, like myself, will go into this wanting to focus on retro games, when in fact the beauty in it is higher-end emulation, such as PS2 and Android gaming, in my opinion.</p><p>It&apos;s too good, and too powerful to restrict it to retro emulation, because of the screen and specifications... and also price.</p><p>This is a beautiful display, one I simply cannot fault. There&apos;s no screen tearing, no light bleed, great brightness adjustments, and it&apos;s incredibly crispy. The only thing I would say is that competition in the future will likely have higher refresh rates, but in all honesty, that&apos;s not a huge negative; it&apos;s hardly noticeable at this level.</p><h2 id="osux">OS/UX</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/retroid-pocket-6-android.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Retroid Pocket 6 Review: A Perfect, Yet Slightly Dull Android Handheld" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/retroid-pocket-6-android.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/retroid-pocket-6-android.webp 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/retroid-pocket-6-android.webp 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/retroid-pocket-6-android.webp 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>The Retroid Pocket 6 runs on Android 13, a great, reliable version of Android that offers an insane ammount of customisation options and games.</p><p>Android gaming is popping off this year, for good reason, and typically in the handheld space, these consoles are gtting bigger screens, which pairs well with what Android gaming offers.</p><p>Retroid offer a custom front-end which is a colourful, playful way to organise your retro games library alongside tweaking your handheld&apos;s settings under one application.</p><p>Though, in my opinion, there are better options on the PlayStore to explore if you&apos;re comfortable with that, but as a pre-installed front-end, it&apos;s one of the best to come from a Chinese &quot;retro&quot; handheld manufacturer; I have little complaints here.</p><p>With the swipe of your fingers in most directions on the screen, you can jump into Android settings to change brightness and performance on the go with a single press, for those wanting to jump from normal mode to performance mode, for example.</p><p>A different swipe will jump you into app-specific settings to tweak games, and then another swipe up, for example, will allow you to jump between apps using Android, so all in all, Android makes it easy to explore the entire handheld on the fly.</p><p>It&apos;s certainly not as fluid as Linux-based handhelds, but it&apos;s the price you pay for customisations and Android applications being at your fingertips.</p><h2 id="emulation-performance">Emulation Performance</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-ps2.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Retroid Pocket 6 Review: A Perfect, Yet Slightly Dull Android Handheld" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/pocket-6-ps2.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/pocket-6-ps2.webp 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/pocket-6-ps2.webp 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pocket-6-ps2.webp 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>This packs some serious power in a very small formfactor. A $250 device should have something unique, or look/does something different/better in comparison to other competitors on the scene.</p><p>Visually, too, it&apos;s very basic, and I believe Retroid have played it too safe to turn heads. When the GameCube released back in 2001-02, the N64 joined the NES and SNES in the Nintendo archives. I get that we&apos;ve got to have progression in gaming, but the N64 was, and very much still is, my first and favourite console, and its games provided me with some of the happiest memories of my childhood. </p><p>So it&apos;s nice to see that the list of N64 games being recompiled and getting native PC ports is getting bigger and bigger. In the last couple of weeks, we&apos;ve had <a href="https://retrododo.com/quest-64-holy-magic-century-is-the-latest-n64-game-to-get-a-fan-recompilation/" rel="noreferrer">Holy Magic Century</a> and <a href="https://retrododo.com/banjo-kazooie-recompiled-transforms-rares-famous-duo-with-4k-widescreen-gameplay/" rel="noreferrer">Banjo: Recompiled</a>, joining the party, and now another of my favourite games is getting access to all of the mod cons the others have taken advantage of. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-embed-card"><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6xt7fHqUONA?start=559&amp;feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen title="Another N64 Recomp! Space Station Silicon Valley Recomp Coming Soon"></iframe></figure><p>Space Station Silicon Valley is a weird game, make no mistake about it. The first moment I took Evo&apos;s chip and latched onto a powered-down robotic sheep gave me an insight into how weird the world could be. Playing as rocket-powered mice, sheep, bears, foxes with wheels - it&apos;s an incredible adventure, and one that I remember all too well. </p><p>As a side note for anyone who loves the history of why we love doing what we do, I can remember my mum ringing around every shop in my local town to see if they had a copy of this game. We found one in a shopping centre and ended up running from the taxi to go and get it before closing time. My mum tripped over my gangly legs and ended up hitting the deck before being tended to by the store staff. I can still remember her saying, &apos;go and get the game,&apos; as they were wiping blood from her face. </p><p>She&apos;s basically the female Rambo, and that makes this game even more special to me. The copy I have in the featured image above is that same copy - it&apos;s still going strong.</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/sssv-1.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Space Station Silicon Valley Is The Latest N64 Game To Get A Native PC Port" loading="lazy" width="1467" height="1063" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/sssv-1.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/sssv-1.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/sssv-1.jpg 1467w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: Take-Two Interactive</span></figcaption></figure><p>Space Station Silicon Valley: Recompiled looks fantastic now it&apos;s running with a higher framerate, better cameras, and instant loading times. According to <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xt7fHqUONA&amp;t=559s&amp;ref=retrododo.com">Video Game Esoterica</a> who posted the video further up this article, wide-screen support and Ray Tracing are also on the way soon. </p><p>So how do you play this version of Silicon Valley? Well, once it&apos;s downloaded, you&apos;ll need to upload a legally acquired ROM of the North American 1.0 version of the game. Then, instead of loading the game up through an emulator like Delta, you&apos;ll just be able to hit play like it was a game made for your PC. It&apos;s as simple as that. </p><p>I&apos;m really glad that Dan Danger is getting his time in the spotlight again. I don&apos;t think enough people played SSSV back in the day or understood how much of a unique and quirky game it really is, so the fact that more people will get to experience it now makes me very happy indeed! They might not have the same story I have when it comes to playing it for the first time, but they&apos;ll enjoy it all the same.</p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? I remember playing on the Mega Drive with my friends, hopping around on those colourful kangaroos and hiding behind blocks just hoping we weren&apos;t about to blow ourselves up with a poorly aimed move. So it won&apos;t surprise you to hear that I&apos;m mega excited about the Super Bomberman Collection, especially as it features two games that have never been released outside of Japan. </p><p>Konami have brought the collection to Switch 1/2, Ps5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam, and it&apos;s available to download and play today. Physical versions will also be available on August 28th, but if you can&apos;t wait that long, I suggest you get downloading and playing right away. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-embed-card"><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/EYi8J27QSMM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen title="SUPER BOMBERMAN COLLECTION | Official Trailer (KONAMI)"></iframe></figure><p>The collection comes with: </p><ul><li>Bomberman</li><li>Bomberman II</li><li>Super Bomberman 1</li><li>Super Bomberman 2</li><li>Super Bomberman 3</li><li>Super Bomberman 4</li><li>Super Bomberman 5</li></ul><p>Super Bomberman 4 and 5 have never had an official release outside of Japan, so for many Bomberman fans in the West, this will be the first time that they&apos;ve actually played these games!</p><p>There are tonnes of new features like a Boss Rush mode that lets players just tackle the bosses from the games across the years, as well as a rewind function, gallery, and the ability to save anytime, anywhere. </p><p>Plus, if you get the Nintendo Switch 2 version, then you can share the game via GamShare either locally or via GameChat with your friends, meaning only one of you needs to get the game. Cool, huh?</p><p>Head to the Super Bomberman Collection page on the <a href="https://www.konami.com/games/bomberman/collection/eu/en/?ref=retrododo.com#products">Konami website</a> for more information!</p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? They were a huge part of my childhood, little handhelds with those static backgrounds where you could see every element of the game already, just waiting for specific elements to light up to keep the action going. </p><p>Imagine what it would feel like to have that kind of game back again, but with fast-paced combat and a storyline that moved like a modern game. Wouldn&apos;t that be a blast from the past that made you feel like your old handhelds have evolved at the same time?</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/future-knight-1.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="A New Game &amp; Watch Style Game Is Heading To Steam And Consoles" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/future-knight-1.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/future-knight-1.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/future-knight-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: Studio Koba,&#xA0;Aeternum Game Studios</span></figcaption></figure><p>Future Knight does exactly that, a 2D shoot-em-up with a bizarre storyline and frantic combat that will make your old Power Rangers Tiger Electronics game feel like a brick (and if you&apos;re wondering why I&apos;ve gone for such a specific example, it&apos;s because that was my favourite handheld growing up). </p><div class="kg-card kg-header-card kg-v2 kg-width-regular " style="background-color: #000000;" data-background-color="#000000"> <div class="kg-header-card-content"> <div class="kg-header-card-text "> <h2 id="we-have-created-an-unsettling-aesthetic-that-blends-the-adorable-with-the-grotesque-inspired-by-the-works-of-satoshi-kon-and-japanese-weirdness-everything-you-see-is-ink-blots-moving-but-we-assure-you-youve-never-seen-ink-move-like-this" class="kg-header-card-heading" style="color: #FFFFFF;" data-text-color="#FFFFFF"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We have created an unsettling aesthetic that blends the adorable with the grotesque, inspired by the works of Satoshi Kon and Japanese weirdness. Well, it&apos;s set in 1993, May 23rd to be exact. I&apos;m going to copy and paste the premise of thof the game for you below because it&apos;s brilliant and the exact kind of humour I want to get from the narrative of new titles:</p><p><em>&apos;It is May 23rd, 1993. The Lady of the Past, leader of the &quot;Present&quot; pyramid scheme cult, has just washed her underwear and, incidentally, wiped the brains of all humanity. Only you, a robot built over 30 years from the remains of a 90s soap opera actor, can stop her. But you are not alone. You have&#xA0;<strong>Two More</strong>, a benign tumor&#x2014;inexplicably powerful and with a life of its own&#x2014;living inside you.&apos;</em></p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/future-knight-2.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="A New Game &amp; Watch Style Game Is Heading To Steam And Consoles" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/future-knight-2.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/future-knight-2.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/future-knight-2.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: Studio Koba,&#xA0;Aeternum Game Studios</span></figcaption></figure><p>Amazing, right? Players travel 8 hours before the end of the world and play through different biomes for each hour of the lady&apos;s schedule in the run-up to her, causing all of our memories to disappear. It&apos;s effectively your job to sabotage her day, Angry Goose Game-style, thwarting her at every turn and ruining everything she tries to do. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-embed-card"><iframe width="200" height="113" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_XD1yLuPMS8?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen title="Future Knight: A Bizarre LCD Shooter"></iframe></figure><p>I love the fact that we&apos;ve got quite a complex game happening within the constraints of a simple LCD display. The fact that you can take out two characters and fire wild weapons while running up walls is incredible, especially when you think back to the days where you had three positions for one character to stand in as they dodged enemies. </p><p>Future Knight is joined by his companion &apos; Two More&apos;, which as you read earlier is, in fact, a benign tumour. And you&apos;ll need to shoot and dance (yes, dance) your way through the day as you make your way towards the final boss. Honestly, it&apos;s like the plot of Majora&apos;s Mask if the devs took some seriously strong hallucinogens, and I can&apos;t wait to play it!</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-6.png" class="kg-image" alt="A New Game &amp; Watch Style Game Is Heading To Steam And Consoles" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/image-6.png 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/image-6.png 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/image-6.png 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-6.png 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: Studio Koba,&#xA0;Aeternum Game Studios</span></figcaption></figure><p>Future Knight will be available to download on Steam, PS5, Xbox, and Switch. 6. Killscreen Do What 'The Big Three' Won't And Create Incredible Custom Controllers

I know that sounds like I was going to be incredibly profound there and come out with something to match the Dali Lama, but it&apos;s true. Gaming is more than that; it&apos;s a way of life, and it&apos;s a way of showcasing our personality. Why else do you think 90s kids collect so many things and display so many trinkets on our desks or in our game rooms?</p><p>When it comes to playing your favourite game, you want to pick up a controller that you connect with. You want to pick up a controller that captures your personality perfectly so it feels like an extension of your arm, a controller that tells the other people in your friendship group what games you grew up playing and how much you love your favourite console with one quick glance. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/image-16.png" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="800" height="450" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/01/image-16.png 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/image-16.png 800w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>And sometimes, you just want a pink translucent controller like you&apos;re back in the 90s, and that&apos;s fine too. </p><p>The main problem is that official custom controllers aren&apos;t something that we tend find as readily available these days. Back in the days of the N64, Nintendo had so many different variants of their iconic three-pronged controller that collectors had to get specific units just to display them all. It was that era of translucent tech where you could see the gubbins of your controllers and consoles that made you feel like a proper mad scientist, an era that I sorely miss. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/Killscreen-PSOne-Controllers-Buttons.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/01/Killscreen-PSOne-Controllers-Buttons.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/01/Killscreen-PSOne-Controllers-Buttons.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/Killscreen-PSOne-Controllers-Buttons.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>As advancements in consoles rise, Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, aka &apos; The Big Three&apos; seem to be giving us controllers that, while technologically brilliant, are a little on the dull side. They look &apos;safe&apos;, with no notable characteristics that could wow us or make us feel connected to the gamepad in our hands on a deeper level. </p><p>Well, it&apos;s a good job we&apos;re alive at the same time as Killscreen to make sure we&apos;ve got custom controllers that really get to the core of our identities. And if you were a fan of the sleek and stylish PSOne, then you&apos;re going to want to pay attention. </p><h2 id="the-psone-controller">The PSOne Controller</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/killscreen-controller-box-1.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="718" height="716" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/01/killscreen-controller-box-1.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/killscreen-controller-box-1.jpg 718w"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Parasite Eve was one of my favourite PS1 games, so I guess it makes sense why Killscreen have gone for some BMTH-esque artwork on this packaging!</span></figcaption></figure><p>Killscreen are kind of like the Bring Me The Horizon of the controller world. They go against the grain, being effortlessly cool with everything they produce, and they&apos;re not afraid to shake things up in a scene that has become stale and boring. A PlayStation controller with GameCube colours and button styles; it&apos;s like the ultimate taboo! I love the fact that the joysticks are textured like the original GameCube remote and that the right-hand stick is smaller like the GameCube&apos;s C-stick. It&apos;s a work of art, and the magic doesn&apos;t just happen on the front, either. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/killscreen-gamecube-controller.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/01/killscreen-gamecube-controller.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/01/killscreen-gamecube-controller.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/killscreen-gamecube-controller.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Remember I said about how I loved that old-school transparent casing on my tech? Well, it&apos;s in full swing here too. Just look at how incredible the back of this controller is. There&apos;s so much that goes into making one of these remotes, and getting to see the rumble motors and all of the wires that control the touchpads and haptic feedback is phenomenal. There&apos;s definitely a lot more going on inside here than there was with the original GameCube remote, that&apos;s for sure!</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/killscreen-xbox-controllers.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/01/killscreen-xbox-controllers.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/01/killscreen-xbox-controllers.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/killscreen-xbox-controllers.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Killscreen don&apos;t just stick to PlayStation, however. They have an amazing range of Xbox controllers in different styles too. And yes, there are more Nintendo-themed controllers here too. </p><p>Whether you love or hate Nintendo, you can&apos;t deny that their rich console history and the iconic designs of their controllers. Having an Xbox remote with a NES theme or SNES design (my personal favourite, I&apos;m not going to lie) feels just as wrong as the CubeSense controller. But if that&apos;s wrong, I don&apos;t wanna feel right!</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-4-1.png" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="1600" height="1135" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/image-4-1.png 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/image-4-1.png 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-4-1.png 1600w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Again, that same transparent tech style that we know and love from the 90s has been replicated here too. This amber clear yellow controller would look perfect next to an old iMac G3 and a see-through N64 on my desk. If you didn&apos;t grow up in the 90s, you probably don&apos;t get the same appeal for these remotes as I do, but just believe me when I say that they&apos;re the funnest things in the world to 90s nerds like us. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/joycons-killscreen-nintendo-1-1.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="849" height="701" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/joycons-killscreen-nintendo-1-1.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/joycons-killscreen-nintendo-1-1.jpg 849w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Killscreen are yet to tap into the Switch Pro Controller market, but they have a small selection of Nintendo Switch Joycons available that also feed our inner 90s kid with those clear shells. The red-top joysticks and colouredstrap buttons are nice touches, as are the back-lit neon buttons on many of the examples in the picture above. </p><p>I really would be keen to see Killscreen bringing out Switch Pro controllers in the style of previous Nintendo consoles, with GameCube and SNES colour schemes, for example. I&apos;d also be keen for them to take a slice of PowerA&apos;s customer base away too and create controllers that are themed around our favourite games. Ok, they might not be able to put Link on their if they&apos;re not licensed, but we could have images and patterns that made us think about the Hero of Time while playing - that would be awesome!</p><h2 id="final-thoughts">Final Thoughts</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/gamecube-controller-ps5-killscreen.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Killscreen Do What &apos; The Big Three&apos; Won&apos;t And Create Incredible Custom Controllers" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/01/gamecube-controller-ps5-killscreen.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/01/gamecube-controller-ps5-killscreen.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/01/gamecube-controller-ps5-killscreen.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>I can&apos;t sing the praises of Killscreen enough. When people come round to my house, they check out my Killscreen controller collection as though it were the holy grail, especially when it comes to checking out the CubeSense remote. They oggle at it like it&apos;s something they never thought could be possible, and then I snatch it from under their noses and proclaim that it&apos;s mine to use and mine only. </p><p>Why is the custom controller so important, and is there a market for it? Well, as I&apos;ve said time and time again through this article, the custom controller takes us back to the days of picking our favourite remote from a big pile as opposed to everyone using generic white pads. It&apos;s why I&apos;m so glad that 8BitDo finally made the N64-themed Analogue 3D controller. </p><p>If Killscreen made an N64-themed Switch Pro controller in the same vein as their CubeSense controller, then they&apos;d have my money quicker than I could say &apos;Let&apos;a-a-go&apos;. That would be something special; guys, if you&apos;re reading this, let&apos;s make it happen!</p><p>Head to <a href="https://www.killscreen.io/?ref=retrododo.com">Killscreen&apos;s website</a> to check out their full range, and don&apos;t forget to tell them we sent you!</p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? Now, with jumbo cards and future trading cards being released at the park this year, I wanted to put together a comprehensive and easy-to-digest list for those wanting to start collecting these very specific and highly sought-after trading cards.</p><h2 id="pok%C3%A9park-forest-set-2005">Pok&#xE9;Park Forest Set (2005)</h2><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pokepark-forest-card-list.webp" class="kg-image" alt="Every Pok&#xE9;Park Pok&#xE9;mon Card Ever Made [2005 - 2026]" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/pokepark-forest-card-list.webp 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/pokepark-forest-card-list.webp 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/pokepark-forest-card-list.webp 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pokepark-forest-card-list.webp 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>The forest set was given to attendees of Pok&#xE9;Park, and it was in a green, sealed binder with all 9 cards featured inside. None of these cards was ever printed again, nor was the artwork used elsewhere.</p><p>Card artwork was designed by Kanako Eo, who had to keep the artwork themed to forests. I used to play the minigames with my mum a lot, but seeing the Kanto 151 up on the big screen and using their moves against each other was fantastic. It felt like stepping into a Pok&#xE9;mon arena for real and was the closest I thought we could come to being a Pok&#xE9;mon Trainer. </p><p>Fast forward to 2026, and we&apos;ve had so many Pok&#xE9;mon games since the 90s, including Pok&#xE9;mon Go, which literally made me feel like there were Pok&#xE9;mon running around in my back garden. Still, from all of the mainline games, mods, and hacks, there aren&apos;t many that let you battle other Pok&#xE9;mon in real time. </p> <!--kg-card-begin: html--> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="pt" dir="ltr">&#x1F929;&#x1F6A8;- CINEMA! You&apos;ll be in charge of evading your opponent&apos;s Pok&#xE9;mon&apos;s moves and honing your fighting skills, proving what we knew all along - Pikachu was the brains of the business, and Ash was just the executive figurehead. </p><p>Becoming a Pok&#xE9;mon was one of the main things that I loved the most about the Mystery Dungeon series. It&apos;s also why I&apos;m excited for Pokopia too. It just mixes up the formula and lets us get right into the action, and I&apos;m all for mods that give us a fresh view on our favourite games. </p><p>Bulbasaur definitely looks a little more on the blocky side than he normally does, but you can definitely tell which Pok&#xE9;mon it is. I&apos;m intrigued to see more of u/Distinct-Spend7728&apos;s work on this mod as the weeks go on - I hope they&apos;re planning on bringing Mewtwo into the game!</p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? 10. Designer Transforms Retro Games Into Fashionable Accessories

When I was growing up, people called you a nerd if you wore a Tetris jumper. Now, you&apos;ve got the people who called you nerds wearing Space Invaders jumpers because being nerdy is cool. Don&apos;t get me wrong, I&apos;m not complaining - any retro game coverage is good coverage in my book!</p><p>This morning, I came across some concept ideas by designer David Delahunty on his website page simply titled &apos;<a href="https://daviddelahunty.com/?ref=retrododo.com">David&apos;s Ideas</a>&apos;. David has a whole page dedicated to his amazing concepts, with lots of retro-inspired ideas like LEGO brick hats, gloves with the Windows OS background on them, an iPod shuffle washing machine, and much more. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-2-1.png" class="kg-image" alt="Designer Transforms Retro Games Into Fashionable Accessories" loading="lazy" width="1196" height="1196" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/image-2-1.png 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/image-2-1.png 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-2-1.png 1196w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: David Delahunty</span></figcaption></figure><p>But it&apos;s his retro gaming-inspired items that we&apos;re most excited about. David has managed to channel key components of our gaming past into fashion accessories that take us straight back to our childhoods. Check out David&apos;s NES controller glasses case above - I would love to pull this out in a meeting and stick it on the table before grabbing my glasses (because I am slowly getting closer to 40 now and have to take my glasses everywhere with me). </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/memory-card-tetris-bags.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="Designer Transforms Retro Games Into Fashionable Accessories" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/memory-card-tetris-bags.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/memory-card-tetris-bags.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/memory-card-tetris-bags.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: David Delahunty</span></figcaption></figure><p>If you&apos;re an EDC user like Brandon (Everyday Carry) and like to have your wallet, keys, and handheld close to your person when you&apos;re out and about, then these bags based on the PlayStation Memory Card and the iconic Tetris Game Boy cartridge might be more of interest. They&apos;re such distinctive retro gaming items that hold a lot of gravitas - 90% of people that you pass in the street would recognise these instantly, and although they might not be able to hold that much in them, they definitely look cool!</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card kg-card-hascaption"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-3-1.png" class="kg-image" alt="Designer Transforms Retro Games Into Fashionable Accessories" loading="lazy" width="1388" height="1396" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/image-3-1.png 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/image-3-1.png 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/image-3-1.png 1388w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"><figcaption><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Credit: David Delahunty</span></figcaption></figure><p>If you want a little more room, however, this PS2 backpack concept would be perfect. It is the box for the <a href="https://retrododo.com/best-ps2-games/" rel="noreferrer">best-selling console of all time</a>, after all, so it&apos;s packaging that deserves to have its place in the fashion halls of fame.</p><p>I know the idea of a square backpack is a little unusual, but you could fit a heck of a lot in it. I mean, I might just be tempted to carry my PS2 and a portable monitor around in it rather than my sandwiches and laptop, but hey, each to their own.</p><p>Whether these fashion accessories ever come to fruition as purchasable items or not remains to be seen, but it&apos;s just nice to see more retro-inspired accessories that champion both our childhoods and retro gaming past coming to the fold. The fact that more and more people are seeing how influential these consoles have been in our lives is fantastic, and I would love to see more people like David coming up with concept ideas that take consoles like the GameCube and PSP and turn them into wearable items. </p><p>Imagine a GameCube hat or PSP sunglassess. David, if you&apos;re reading this, we only take 10% comission. </p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? I&apos;m not sure your boss would take too lightly if you downloaded <a href="https://retrododo.com/delta-has-arrived-on-the-app-store/" rel="noreferrer">Delta</a> on your workphone to get in some Pok&#xE9;mon ROM hack time while out in the field either. For some reason, organisations just don&apos;t want us to be &apos;wasting&apos; time playing when we should be doing work. </p><p>I&apos;ve come across a Game Boy Emulator written in VBA and Excel that allows you to open up your favorite Game Boy games inside a spreadsheet in a bid to combat that problem. Created by KatrinaJames, who presumably just wanted to travel around Kanto instead of filling in cells, the project allows you to upload a Game Boy game into the data inputting program, swapping Sums and Formulas for Tetris and Kirby.</p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pokemon-red-spreadsheet-gameplay-1.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="This Game Boy Emulator Runs Through Microsoft Excel For Covert Worktime Gaming" loading="lazy" width="1280" height="645" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/pokemon-red-spreadsheet-gameplay-1.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/pokemon-red-spreadsheet-gameplay-1.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/pokemon-red-spreadsheet-gameplay-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>Now I know what you&apos;re thinking - &apos;that probably doesn&apos;t work very well, right?&apos; You&apos;ve seen Super Mario 64 <a href="https://retrododo.com/this-gamer-has-got-super-mario-64-running-inside-a-pdf-file/" rel="noreferrer">running in a PDF</a>, so you&apos;re already feeling sceptical. </p><p>Well, you would be right. Listed in the issues section on the project&apos;s GitHub page, the first item is &apos;Performance is extremely poor (to the point of being unplayable)&apos;. I mean, it&apos;s not exactly what you want to hear, and neither is the fact that saving doesn&apos;t work or any music. </p><p>Ok, the music is a little bit of a giveaway if you&apos;re playing covertly, but not having any save features... that&apos;s a bit of an issue. Still, the fact that you can Launch Pok&#xE9;mon Red and get it actually running is great, and while the project has lain dormant for a while, it might spark someone to continue where Katrina has left off and get this running perfectly. I wan&apos;t to play Dragonyhm in a spreadsheet instead of calculating how much Brandon owes me when I&apos;ve paid for company lunches!</p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? There&apos;s a VR version heading to Meta Quest thanks to the efforts of Alex Le Tux, who has uploaded footage of the project to their YouTube channel. It&apos;s their only video currently, and it&apos;s amassed a lot of interest over the last couple of days!</p><p>The project is derived from the Perfect Dark decompilation project that released 4 years ago. Alex is very clear that this standalone VR port isn&apos;t completely ready for the public yet and that it&apos;s still in the &apos;experimental&apos; stage. The opening sequence, as you can see from the video below, however, looks fantastic. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-embed-card"><iframe width="200" height="150" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/P4BEw9ji_fw?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen title="Perfect Dark standalone VR port"></iframe></figure><p>As mentioned by our friends at <a href="https://www.uploadvr.com/fanmade-port-of-nintendo-64-classic-perfect-dark-running-on-quest/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=x">UploadVR</a>, Alex&apos;s work will join the likes of the VR port back catalogue from Team Beef, who have been working over the past few years to bring Duke Nukem, Tomb Raider, DOOM, and Quake to the VR world. I just know that I&apos;d get too into this and end up rolling around on my floor and bumping into the dog. Maybe Alex can work on a VR port of Jet Force Gemini so I can get Bilbo playing as Lupus too!</p><p>As for when the game will be ready, well, only Alex currently knows that. I imagine there will be a lot of work to get through to get this ready for the public, but if Alex continues with the same level of attention to detail he&apos;s put into what we can see so far, then it&apos;s going to be an amazing project!</p><div style="display:none"><div class="kg-callout-emoji">&#x2764;&#xFE0F;</div><div class="kg-callout-text">Like what you are reading? But Kirby hasn&apos;t ever featured in the blocky spotlight. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/Kirbys-Dreamland-LEGO-set.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="This Kirby&apos;s Dreamland LEGO Set Has Days Left To Become A Reality" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/Kirbys-Dreamland-LEGO-set.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/Kirbys-Dreamland-LEGO-set.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/Kirbys-Dreamland-LEGO-set.jpg 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/Kirbys-Dreamland-LEGO-set.jpg 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>That could all change, but it&apos;s going to need your help to become a reality. </p><p>This LEGO Ideas set from JP Arts02 is the perfect homage to Kirby&apos;s world, with all of the main Kirby characters including Bandanna Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, and King Dedede joining the pink peril himself for some Dreamland antics. </p><p>There&apos;s even Whispy Woods and Kracko to provide some antagonism too, as well as an all-important Warp Star and a backdrop that looks ready for some serious playtime. </p><figure class="kg-card kg-image-card"><img src="https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/Rear-Kirbys-LEGO-Set.jpg" class="kg-image" alt="This Kirby&apos;s Dreamland LEGO Set Has Days Left To Become A Reality" loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w600/2026/02/Rear-Kirbys-LEGO-Set.jpg 600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1000/2026/02/Rear-Kirbys-LEGO-Set.jpg 1000w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/size/w1600/2026/02/Rear-Kirbys-LEGO-Set.jpg 1600w, https://retrododo.com/content/images/2026/02/Rear-Kirbys-LEGO-Set.jpg 1920w" sizes="(min-width: 720px) 720px"></figure><p>JP Arts02 has also paid homage to HAL Laboratory with two hidden &apos;HAL&apos; logos. Ok, one of them isn&apos;t that hidden as you can see from the picture above, but you&apos;ll need to have a keen eye to spot the other one!</p><p>As a lifelong Kirby fan, this is a set that I would definitely have to mess around and play with rather than just being a display piece. It would look great on a shelf, but come on, that Whispy Woods needs some serious beatdowns from King Dedede&apos;s hammer!</p><p>This set has just 17 days at the time of writing to get to 5,000 supporters, otherwise it&apos;s game over. It needs to get just over 2,000 supporters in that time, and it&apos;s totally free to back it. If it reaches 5,000 votes, it will receive more time to get to the 10,000 supporters stage needed for LEGO to consider it for an official LEGO Ideas set. </p><p>So, if you want to see a Kirby LEGO set, then head over to the <a href="https://beta.ideas.lego.com/product-ideas/fb35c4bf-4ee2-4e4c-9f48-eca1b38250d5?ref=retrododo.com">LEGO Ideas page </a>and show your support for free.
